REFLECTION.
I found this project both challenging and ultimately fulfilling. The main hurdle my group had to overcome was learning how to use Canva and exploring all of its various tools. The project timeline seemed manageable—but only if you were already familiar with the digital platform you chose. In our case, we had to build in extra time for the learning curve of a new software program.
That experience turned out to be valuable, because it allowed me to truly step into my students’ shoes and experience the feeling of learning something completely new. It reminded me how important it is to offer patience and grace to others when they are navigating unfamiliar territory.
I dedicated time to learning as much as I could about creating animations in Canva, and I’m genuinely proud of the short video I produced. As a result, I now feel much more confident using the platform. This is especially meaningful because I chose Canva knowing that many local districts are integrating it into their classrooms due to its accessibility and user-friendly design.
I also appreciate that Canva is less text-heavy and more visually intuitive, which makes it an excellent tool for students who benefit from visual supports or need accommodations and modifications. Overall, this project not only strengthened my technical skills but also deepened my empathy for learners—and reminded me that growth happens most meaningfully when we step outside our comfort zones.
